Reviews
Poor cellular service and wifi services, i expected a bit more for a gym that charges 25% more than other anytime fitnesses. The space is quite small and when it hits peak hour it gets super packed. variety of machines could be improved on
The manager is really rude. All younger staff are nice and helpful. No wifi and there’s no reception. For anyone who has locked themselves out of their lockers even though it says they automatically unlock after 2 hours, this isn’t true. Not enough chargers for iPhone.
Super convenient in the heart of haymarket. Missing cleaning wipes vs using bottles and napkins. Don’t forget to bring a towel (Unspoken Rule?) they’ll say something to you on your way out.
I received a response and would like to add. As mentioned, a towel is a condition of entry. Apparently a towel is given to members as they sign up yet none was provided when I signed up at this very location. Also, as I look around. I see less than half in the gym have a towel so it leads to question who gets confronted for this violation.
Secondly, if the concern is on cleanliness then it leads to question why NOT A SINGLE HAND SANITIZER dispenser is sight. Random bottles of cleaner with no towels nearby makes little sense.
The club has sent a few increase
And increase by no less than 50%
I haven't been using the club for a few weeks but it is still deemed to be my home club.
The club suggested a better rate but wanted me to resign the contract
Why would I resign the contract after being with the chain for 8 years
Why are the current members can't get the same rates as new members.
No appreciation
No consideration
No respect
The head office didn't want to interfere.
Also just happy to collect the fees.
My current club in North Sydney is happy to adjust the rate when I get transferred but it may take another month who knows and I refuse to pay in the fee collection exercise by the Haymarket branch.
Terminated my membership and will look for a new gym.
Reply to the gym response:
The problem is with the position taken by the gym that I Have To sign a new contract to get the best available rate the gym offers.
I have to resign the contract after being with the chain for 8 years.
And I don't even use this particular gym, why would I resign.
It is like the banks - offering better rates to the new clients than existing ones. Things do not change unless we will tell those businesses It Is Not Ok and walk away to their competitors.
Gym is always packed with ppl. I have to wait till late night or get up early to use the equipment when there’s less traffic there. Wifi isn’t always consistent also the phone signal was quite poor due to its underground layout.
Love going to this location; has all the machines I need. Only downside is it’s always packed, meaning it’s probably also a favourite amongst other gym goers plus it’s conveniently located in the CBD.
Went to enquire about pricing because they don't make that information available on the website...
They charge an upfront $100 to initiate the plan (as in, just pay $100 for the privilege of starting a contract), an additional upfront $100 for a magnetic swab that gets you into the gym, and then $22 a WEEK for 12 months.
Facilities are standard, the gym is overcrowded. Not at all worth the weekly fee and pointlessly greedy upfront costs.
I'll stick with my current gym: $479 for 6 months, no upfront signup fee (because why on Earth would there be a fee to start a contract?) and they don't charge for the swab.
*** Edit to reply to management ***
>> "our upfront costs come with a free body scan and personal training session valued more than $100"
So is it free or is it $100? Why not make the body scan and training session an optional add on, opt-in rather than part of the contract?
>> "We charge $100 for a fob access key because it gives you access to all +3000 AF clubs around the world."
So if AF charges for this feature then it's not a unique selling proposition of taking a contract with AF, it's a paid feature. Most people are lucky to travel around 4 weeks a year. Cumulatively the fees to be a guest / visitor of a gym abroad would be less than the $100 you're charging for the key. So what could have been an attractive and inclusive feature of a membership with AF is actually priced at $100.
>> "you may have come during our peak hour. Most gyms are busy from 5:00pm to 8:30pm."
I came on Saturday around 1 or 2pm - the place was crowded and the air was dank.
>> "our weekly rates are very reasonable and standard within Haymarket area. Most new members are ok with it."
A look at your other reviews tells a different story. New and existing members are consistently having issues with an overbearing authoritarian presence from management, selectively applied rules, overcrowding, poor ventilation and massive (up to 50%) price hikes.
I can understand that you don't control the rent, but it doesn't make the membership any less of a bad deal for the customer just because you're personally taking home less money after the rent is paid. Additionally there are other Gyms in the area (Revo to name one) that cost substantially less - Revo charges $10 a week, no lock-in, no signup fee (for a "free" body scan and training session) and no $100 fee for the key.
You can point to head office and to rent and understandably these are the real causes of the bad deal, but whether it's your layer of management to blame or not, the conclusion remains the same: AF Haymarket is overpriced and overcrowded.
Good clean brand new anytime fitness.
Gym Equipments covers all major muscle groups.
……..
After some months of opening, this place attract lots of people who has same mind set of being healthy and keep good routine of weight training.
Located on prime location of George street,
And this place is always busy
